2007 Seminar SeriesThis semester, the Center for Global Change and Earth Observations teamed up with other research groups in the Manly Miles Building to host a series of Mid-week seminars. Many of our faculty and research members collaborate on projects and publications, and we enjoy a great sense of collegiality. These seminars are a chance to share our work with each other and promote further collaboration and creativity. Speakers this term were: Jan 24 - Yankun Sun, Visiting scholar addressing climate change int he Zhalong Nature Preserve in China/p> Feb 21 - Dr. Erin Dreelin, assistant director of the Center for Water Science (CWS) and Dr. Tomoyuki Shibata (Shiba) of the Center for Advancing Microbial Risk Assessment (CAMRA) March 21- Dr. Jon Bartholic, Director, Institute for Water Research (IWR), along with Ruth Kline-Robach and Lois Wolfson April 4- Dr. Bill McConnell, Associate Director of the Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability (CSIS). April 18- Dr. Stuart Gage of the Remote Environment Assessment Lab (REAL).
CGCEO also hosted, along the School of Urban Planning and Design, Dr. Ademolah Braimoh, Executive Director of the The Global Land Project Sapporo Nodal Office. Dr, Braimoh's focus was: Priority issues in understanding the coupled human-environment system From the GLP website: The Global Land Project is a proposed joint research project for land systems for the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Programme (IHDP).
